In 1975 I was diagnosed with thyroid disease. In 2005 it was kidney cancer. In April of 2024, metastatic stag 4 lung cancer. In an effort to understand why this was happening to me, I started looking for something that tied all these issues together. In early June 2024, I happened across information referring a connection between these diseases and a substance known as PFAS. PFAS is a component of AFFF, or firefighting foam. After digging a little more, I discovered that 2 of my assigned bases in the Air Force were on the EPA's superfund list due to PFAS contamination. This gave me the will to file a VA disability claim. I discovered the most time effective claim filings were "fully developed claims". That is a claim in which all supporting evidence is submitted with the initial claim. Knowing I didn't have the knowledge to gather and compose the necessary evidence, I decided to interview and hire a professional.
